About
Family run, second generation, and still the same trade it started in.
Blackstone has been restoring natural stone across the Lower Mainland since 1990.
Rick Murray started Blackstone Marble Care in 1990, restoring natural stone across the Lower Mainland at a time when very few people in the region were doing it as a specialty.
His son Rob learned the trade from him and now runs the business. He is in his 26th year on the tools.
Owner. In his 26th year in the trade, restoring marble, limestone and travertine across Greater Vancouver, and granite for repairs and polishing.
I got my start in the natural stone business working alongside my dad during my summers in high school. What began as a way to earn some extra money quickly became something I really enjoyed. I loved that every job was different, and there was something especially rewarding about taking a worn piece of marble and bringing it back to life. Over the years, that early summer job grew into a career and a passion for helping people protect and restore the natural stone in their homes and businesses.
I grew up in Maple Ridge, and the Lower Mainland has always been home. With family and friends close by and the incredible beauty of British Columbia right outside our door, I’m proud to live, work, and build my business in the community I call home.
Rob Murray
Rob runs the business his father Rick built, and brings 26 years in the trade to every job.
Rob’s own answer, when asked what he would pick: marble, every time.
We work on natural stone: marble, limestone, travertine, granite, quartzite and terrazzo. Marble is the bulk of it and the work we are known for, particularly etch removal, which is the call that comes in more than any other.
We restore the marble at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.
Alongside that, the work covers hotel lobbies and strata buildings across the Lower Mainland, scheduled around the building rather than around us, and often overnight so the lobby is never closed when it matters.
The paperwork exists and can be produced before anyone steps on site, which is what strata councils and facility managers usually ask for first.
Every job is looked at in person before it is priced, because two surfaces that look identical in a photograph can hide very different damage. The visit is free, and the written quote is emailed to you afterwards. There is no obligation and no call-out fee.
How long a job takes depends on the size of the surface and how much damage is in it. A vanity can be a few hours; a large kitchen can be two days plus a return visit to seal; a floor can run to a week. You will have the real timeline before anything starts.
Restoration is dust free. Water holds the dust down and what is left is captured at the tool.
Vancouver, North and West Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Richmond, Surrey, White Rock, and across the Lower Mainland. Whistler for commercial work.
